“Outfoxed” examines how media empires, led by Rupert Murdoch’s Fox News (Faux News), have been running a “race to the bottom” in television news. This film provides an in-depth look at Fox News and the dangers of ever-enlarging corporations taking control of the public’s right to know.

The film explores Murdoch’s burgeoning kingdom and the impact on society when a broad swath of media is controlled by one person.

Media experts, including Jeff Cohen (FAIR) Bob McChesney (Free Press), Chellie Pingree (Common Cause), Jeff Chester (Center for Digital Democracy) and David Brock (Media Matters) provide context and guidance for the story of Fox News and its effect on society.

This documentary also reveals the secrets of Former Fox news producers, reporters, bookers and writers who expose what it’s like to work for Fox News. These former Fox employees talk about how they were forced to push a “right-wing” point of view or risk their jobs. Some have even chosen to remain anonymous in order to protect their current livelihoods. As one employee said “There’s no sense of integrity as far as having a line that can’t be crossed.”

It does get more interesting though. I’ve always considered Bill O’Reilly a bully who has never been shouted down. Get me on his show – I’ll shut the son of a bitch down before he gets a chance to call for security. I can outshout a bully no problem at all.

Now watch the hatchet job that O’Reilly did on Mr. Glick. It’s disgusting. Then of course this is the same O’Reilly that threatens callers to his radio show.

Oh my, this is a find. Lets see Frank Zappa face off with the WaPo’s John Lofton. Lofton is a horses ass, no doubt about it. Zappa may look like he’s orbitting Pluto, but he’s pretty well tuned in.

When Lofton has to resort to ad hominem you can tell he’s lost the argument. And Zappa is a strict constitutionalist. Makes me love him even more.

But Zappa brings up a good point – we are rocketing toward a theocracy. It’s clear from what Lofton is saying that he wants to control what OTHER people can read, see or hear. Yup, Christofascisti even then.

And we get the extra treat of watching Novak acting all smug.

We really are worse off. Since George W. Bush has been in office the number of those living in poverty and those living without health insurance has gone Up.

Here’s the link showing the rising numbers of uninsured and those living in poverty – this is culled from census data.

And here a good write up as to why we’re worse off. Some very intersting graphs in this one.

When are the heartland voters going to get it in their heads that when Republicans are in power, we all suffer.

Immigration Gets Ugly August 28, 2006

I’ve stayed pretty neutral about the whole immigration thing because I too have immigrant blood flowing through my body. But my ancestors did it the legal way. They paid the price of immigration.

The one thing nobody wants to talk about is the fact that these people are entering the United States illegally. They have no legal right to be here. And to hoist the Mexican flag over a U.S. Post office is in my opinion, a very BAD omen. it isn’t that these people want to immigrate, they want to turn the parts of the U.S. that connect with Mexico into Mexican territory.

Ok, so maybe we shouldn’t have taken it when we expanded westward but whats done is done. Leave it be, because you don’t want to wake a sleeping giant.

A Puerto Rican friend refers to Mexicans as cuckarachas – cockroaches. And that’s exactly what the crowd of American flag waivers seems to be thinking too. Because they’ll just keep on coming across that border so long as the internal problems in Mexico don’t get fixed.

Those two videos are Part 1 and Part 8. I suggest digging through all of them and watching closely.

We also have to acknowledge that much of our agricultural output from those parts of the United States have been brought to market on the backs of immigrants. But we have to draw the line somewhere.

I don’t object so much to immigration, I do object to trying to make the United States into Mexico.

Good Stuff – The 9/11 Omission Commission August 27, 2006

I’ve always held that the things being spewed out as truth by the Bush administration regarding the events of 09/11/2001 were suspicious to say the least. There are lots of inconsistencies in the official report. Here we see some curious little facts about the events that unfolded on that day:

There are just too many things about the events that ring as hollow. The current term in vogue is spidey-sense, I just call it plain old intuition that we’re being lied to. Then ask yourself, what motivation would an administration have to lie unless the information it was covering up would be mortally damaging to that administration?

I’ve heard of LEAP before. But this is the very first time I’ve seen current and former police chiefs admit that the War on Drugs is an abysmal failure.

The only point I’d like to make before I paste in the video is that I was a little uncomfortable with legalizing cocaine and heroin. But the video states something I never knew. The War on Drugs consumes $69 Billion a year That money could be spent for treatment programs, educational programs, etc. But if someone wants to smoke a little weed, why the hell not. It’s pretty harmless stuff, a point which you’ll never hear in ONDCP commercials.

Wow – Equinix has quite the setup. But as much as they’d like to think that five layers of biometrics will stop someone, they’re wrong. You can always brute force your way in. We just haven’t come to that yet.

Interesting when we moved our office, some thought was put into it. I was the one who brought up N+ power. We have an APC Symmetra system backed up by a 125kW natural gas powered generator. We even extend power out from that system to our broadband providers routers on the other side of the building.

That system provides power to nearly 40 servers and our telephone and voicemail systems. In addition the room housing all this has redundant A/C systems. The room has its own key and it’s own alarm system armed separately from the main space.

Do I think it’s 100% secure – no I don’t. But you’d need to breach two locked doors, avoid the video cameras, know the alarm code to disable the alarm, and then you MIGHT be able to get in.

The Terrorists Have Won August 24, 2006

If you ask why I say they’ve won it is because their prime objective is to strike terror into the hearts of the people they attack. And sure enough, we’ve given up civil liberties, etc. all in the name of safety.

Here are some quotes by Benjamin Franklin that illustrate the point:
Do not anticipate trouble, or worry about what may never happen. Keep in the sunlight.

(I like the above, but the next one is so much more appropriate!)

They that can give up essential liberty to obtain a little temporary safety deserve neither liberty nor safety.

And have we ever given up so much of our liberty. It’s shameful. The latest incident involves Raed Jarrar, who attempted to fly Jet Blue from JFK while wearing a shirt that said in both Arabic and English “We will not be silent”. An additional source is here.

First off, people don’t realize that in the middle east there are several different languages, cultures, etc. For example, languages spoken include Arabic, English, Farsi, Hebrew, Kurdish, Turkish, French and Azerbaijani. All use different but script but some do look similar. I doubt many Americans know the difference between them.

Secondly, this was blatant discrimination. I’m very tempted to have a shirt printed in Arabic that says George W. Bush is a horses ass and then wear it to an airport next time I fly. But then, I don’t look ‘arabic’. But whoa to you if you have swarthy skin, dark hair, and you’re wearing a shirt like the one Mr. Jarrar.

I’m so sick of the Bush administration beating 09/11/01 drums over and over again. It’s over, it’s done with and the administration has by its actions destabilized the entire middle east. Hell of a trick.

All of this is precisely why George W. Bush and Dick Cheney should be impeached.

The Sick Bastards at Landover Baptist August 24, 2006

Granted, there is some debate on what the term “suffer a with to burn” really meant since they estimate that many of the translations of the bible are flat out wrong.

But you have to listen to the Landover Baptist church message on witchcraft. Great Flying Spaghetti Monster – these are some seriously sick fucks.
