Um Fringe – could you at least get the MBTA colors right? April 16, 2010

So I’m watching the latest Fringe and they’re obviously on the MBTA/MBCR commuter rail. But the cars are the wrong colors. Purple with yellow trim is the default color scheme of the MBTA/MBCR cars.
And it’s not Boston Bay Station, it’s Back Bay Station.
And Back Bay Station does not connect to the Silver Line. It only connects to the Orange Line.
If you want the Silver Line you go to South Station.
Sheesh, get it right!
And I can tell you beyond a doubt – when they showed Providence it was NOT Providence. It screamed “Sound stage”.

I love this show but always feel the same way! Couldn’t they just have one Boston person telling them how they have it all wrong?
How do we know that Fringe itself isn’t happening in an alternate universe? :-)
Hehe…. Yeah, I get like that with NYC movies…
I love Fringe, but I agree that they are completely lazy when it comes to getting Boston detail right. Of course, despite the “Boston” location, it was first filmed in New York, now is filmed in Vancouver. They do make feeble efforts to get neighborhoods of Vancouver to look ever-so-vaguely like Greater Boston. And usually fail, for us Bostonians. But of course, it doesn’t hurt the story line…
Did you also ever notice the tip to Star Wars on license plates? One vehicle had 1R2D21, another a reference to 1C3P01.
The best part is a few years ago I watched no fewer than 4 movies get filmed outside my former office, which was across the street from South Station. All of them took place in New York! Short list: The Women, My Best Friends’ Girl (where Dane Cook drives off), Surrogates (in the salon), I forget the rest.
That’s ok, I worked in the RI State House when they filmed Underdog there.
