Chafee (Independent Candidate for Governor in RI) Supports Marriage Equality

I wrote Lincoln Chafee’s campaign for Governor about his views on marriage equality. Here is the response I got back:

In answer to your question. The Senator supports equality for all individuals. He has repeatedly stated that “If elected Governor, he would sign into law a bill, if passed by the legislature, that reflected full marriage equality for same sex couples.”

I must say that the fact that Chafee still refers to himself as Senator leaves me a bit uneasy. But I’m glad he supports marriage equality. I’m going to poll the other potential candidates for governor and see where they stand.

But Chafee’s entry into the race is a game changer. The Republicans can pretty much forget it and I’m dying to see who gets the Dem nod. If we go by war chest alone I’d say Caprio.
